DAPHNE

The background of the myth of Apollo and Daphne, is the conflict between Apollo and Cupid god of love.

Cupid thought to resolve the matter in his own way and this was the way: impressed with his golden arrow Apollo who fell in love with Daphne, then Cupid  struck Daphne by an arrow of iron, which led Daphne to reject Apollo.

Apollo madly in love chased Daphne who invoked the help of Mother Earth that transformed her into a laurel, which thereafter became the favorite tree by Apollo.

Dafne means laurel.
