AVILA CHAPEL

Pietro Paolo Avila in 1678 commissioned the painter Antonio Gherardi the restoration of the chapel of the family.

Therefore Gherardi became an architect, designed this stunning masterpiece, of perspective effects played after Borromini style, as is seen in the small gallery which enlarges St. Jerome, painted by himself.

Unforgettable are, in the center of the dome, four flying angels carrying a lantern, with a spectacular lighting effect.
