CASAL ROTONDO
As you reach the VI mile of the Appian road you find the “Casal Rotondo”, a large circular sepulcher, which was built on a square basement (35 mt side). After the arrangement made in 1830 by the archaeologist Canina aside to the sepulcher was built a wall inside which the findings of Casal Rotondo were immured; among those findings there is an inscription saying that this was the mausoleum of Cotta, but we don’t know whether he is Aurelio Cotta or Messalino Cotta, son of the famous Messala Corvino.
