Strozzi Chapel

In the Strozzi Chapel are exhibited bronze statues copies from the original of Michelangelo (the Pieta) and Raffaello da Montelupo (Rachel and Leah).
Strozzi were a Florentine family that long clashed against Medici; famous is the Strozzi Palace in Florence.

Filippo Strozzi the Younger (1489-1538), whose sons are buried in this chapel, thanks to his ability as a banker, lifted the fortunes of the family, but defeated by Cosimo de Medici, died in prison.
