Apse Preti

Mattia Preti (1613 - 1699), called the Cavalier Calabrese is the author of the 3 large frescoes of the apse: on the left St. Andrea hoisted on the Cross, Crucifixion of S. Andrea in the center and finally the burial of St. Andrea.

These paintings, markedly Baroque, in their spectacular dynamic, contrast with the troubled classicism of the imminent Domenichino.
