Rupe Tarpea
A lot of stories were told to interpret the etymology of the Tarpea cliff and at the same time to explain that here were executed the country’s betrayers.
The sentence had a clear ritual symbol: the betrayer was threw down the cliff, that is he was expelled from the city.
The Roma empire fell but the place maintained its cruel destination, since 1550 at the foot of the Tarpea cliff people sentenced to death were executed.
