Cola di Rienzo
Cola di Rienzo (1313 – 1354) was born from a very poor family, but thanks to his intelligence he gained Pope Clemente VI confidence. The Pope, who in that time lived in Avignone (France), proved his trust in Cola di Rienzo sending him to Rome as envoy.
Cola di Rienzo, supported by Roman people, ascended the Capitolium announcing the new orders.
But the thrill of power betrayed him and in brief he lost the Pope and the people support.
The course of Cola followed a tragic way: illusion, disillusion, ruin, death.
