giacomo della porta
Giacomo della Porta was born in Genoa in 1533, but like Maderno and Fontana was from the Ticino district.
He died in Rome in 1602.

He was a pupil of Vignola, and like his fellow-architects from the Ticino was a tireless worker. We can recall some of his numerous works:
- The church of the Gesù
- Palazzo Senatorio on Capitol Hill
- Palazzo della Sapienza;
- The façade of San Luigi dei Francesi
- The Basilica of Santa Maria in Aracoeli
- The Fountain of the Turtles
- The church of Trinità dei Monti (1586)
- The completion of St. Peter’s dome
- Villa Aldobrandini in Frascati.
